Hinaani Design
Hinaani; at the floe edge or to be on the edge [of something]. Hinaani Design is a collaboration of creative minded individuals from the Kivalliq region of Nunavut. The team designs clothing and apparel accessories that reflect the culture, language, and land of Inuit and Nunavunmiut. Hinaani's mission is to contribute to the identity of modern Inuit through the long standing traditions of clothing design in the North. The creative direction of Hinaani aims to produce designs that are positive and celebratory of the ingenuity and artistry of Inuit. The creative lead and designer at Hinaani, Nooks Lindell, works closely with the entire Hinaani team as well as his grandmother, distinguished artist Akpaliapik Rhoda Karetak, to develop inspiration and aesthetic style. Karetak is also the grandmother of Hinaani team member Lori Tagoona. Hinaani approaches business in often unconventional ways. Family is an important Hinaani value, all partners are parents of young children and incorporate this into the company.

Paula Ikuutaq Rumbolt is experienced in developing and instructing Inuktitut and traditional Inuit arts programming and has written two books based on Inuit legends. She is one of the co-founders of Hinaani Design and contributes to development and direction of the company as well as being the first point of contact for customers. She is based in her hometown of Baker Lake.

Emma Kreuger is also one of the co-founders of Hinaani and comes with a background of working with entrepreneurial skills development programs and community arts/wellness programming. She handles the day to day administration of the business, assisting where ever needed to keep the team going. She considers Baker Lake her first home, but now lives in Arviat.
